Effective Non-Drug Choices

That message in our society is in deep -- the brain expects immediate relief from drugs. Products that are successful seem to follow suit. Only I am not going there. The paradigm for me is Effective Non-Drug Choices.

Check out Resperate for a continuing trend in the United States among the medical community. I applaud it for they are finding choices in care -- in this case high blood pressure treated by breathing. One simply listens to sounds which key the patient how to breath. That re-programming brings about a drastic change in their health. The high blood pressure is then controlled from the person's own efforts. What a monumental discovery that breath control can be married to a device to train us.

If my last breath promotes this concept it is not enough. There are so many non-drug choices that are effective. Most of them come to us through non-medical means. Many of them are common sense techniques.

The other day, a good friend saw my finger as I complained about an infection. He took it and squeezed the ugly remains of a splinter out of it. I had tried to dig it out three times and failed. And out came an oozy, gooey mess until it come out red. He said, that's it, you'll be fine now because that is fresh blood. He cleaned it with alcohol and hydrogen peroxide. So I put on iodine and a fresh band aid. Check out The miracle of iodine to find out more. Even consumers guide gets into the act of saying what may be good for cleaning out a cut home remedies for cuts.

Did you know that your own body uses hydrogen peroxide to clean things up? No wonder it has become one of the most exciting advances in cancer treatment. Check out Paul Pitchford's book on Healing With Whole Foods. And why have we used iodine for so many years. Another good choice from the body's own mechanisms. However, do your homework for hydrogen peroxide can be dangerous. See Truth or Fiction on Hydrogen Peroxide.

Hmm, I'm smelling the crock pot of the day with potatoes, barley, lentils, beans, onions, zucchini, and red peppers. Now that is my kind of effect drugs wrapped up in a solution of chicken broth.

Halloween - Go Ahead and Pinch Yourself

I don't want to forget this Halloween for quite some time. It certainly was not the treats or tricks -- the mystic was so wonderful. I'm engaged to be married to Julie Pickens. Julie and I dressed up and went dancing. It was one of those whirling, twirling cascades in time that I think somebody like Bobby Dylan must have written about. We had a Halloween dinner made by Julie which had been a family treat for all of her children over the years. She had it all cooked up in a pumpkin. It was wonderful and incredibly inventive.

Of course, I was a martial artist dressed in black. She was a 50's girl dressed in a black poodle skirt with black nylons and need I say more? She was a whirl on the dance floor and I enjoyed every second of it.

I think sometimes you need to get out and have so much fun that you almost completely lose your breath over it. Then you can pinch yourself and know -- life can be this good! Thank you Julie for being who you are -- beautiful, bright, witty, and a ton of fun off and on the dance floor.

Despite the fires throughout California and especially in San Diego -- there was an out pouring of resolve, of responsive treatment for the situation. It really restores my faith in who we can be -- right now, today.
